It probably wasn't the most inconspicuous choice, but someone managed to steal a government truck with a horse trailer from Glacier National Park's Belly River trailhead.

Amy Vanderbilt, Glacier's public affairs officer, said the one-ton Ford 350 crew cab pickup truck and a 20-foot silver "gooseneck" horse trailer were reported stolen at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A park employee had parked the rig at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, leaving it for a trip into the park's northeastern interior. Both the truck and the trailer have U.S. government license plates.

Vanderbilt said park rangers are investigating tampering with other vehicles in the parking lot.

"That's really all we know right now," she said. "If anybody were to see a vehicle of that description, they are urged to call park headquarters."

The headquarters' number is 888-7901.
