Hungry dogs were reported in Hungry Horse to Flathead County sheriff's deputies. The caller said the dogs had no shelter and looked very skinny.

Forgery was reported from a resident of Elk Trail in Whitefish. Someone had written checks on a deceased woman's checking account.

A man on Sandy Hill Lane learned that no good deed goes unpunished. He loaned his car, with his wallet inside, so another man could drive to a bathroom. The car was never returned.

Deputies investigated a charge of cruelty to animals. A report was filed that a man living in a camper near Belton Chalet constantly beats and throws his pit bull around.

One person was transported by Kalispell Fire and Ambulance to the hospital Thursday morning after a vehicle went into the ditch on Whitefish Stage Road by Tetrault Road.

Deputies investigated a report of a domestic assault early Thursday at the Blue Moon.

Another domestic problem was reported from Springhill Road in Kila. A woman reported a man punched her and tore up her house. The couple resolved the problem and refused further assistance.

Another fight took deputies to Foothills Road late Wednesday night. A woman said that she was punched in the chest by a man holding a two-year-old child. Deputies separated the parties and the man left for the night.

A motorist reported that a man brandished a gun from a black Toyota truck Wednesday evening on U.S. 2 East by FedEx. He was described as in his late 30s with scraggly dark brown hair.

Columbia Falls police are investigating a report of child abuse at a residence at Third Avenue West.

Officers also are looking for a person or persons who keeps stealing items from the Flathead Industries donation box.
