EUREKA - It was a rough way for the Eureka's girls tennis team to open the season Tuesday as the Lions fell to Superior 6-0 and then Columbia Falls 6-1.

Posting the lone win for the Lions was Shalane Hofstee at No. 4 singles. She defeated Carrie Hopkins, 6-3, 6-1.

Eureka battled Columbia Falls tough in singles play as three of the four matches went the distance.

"They could have gone either way," said Eureka coach Dave Fine.

"We kinda ran out of gas at the end."

Eureka hosts Troy on Tuesday.
