Land near U.S. 93 set for auction
The Daily Inter Lake
An 85-acre parcel of school-trust land in Kalispell is scheduled for the auction block June 15.
The minimum bid for the parcel is $3.53 million, or about $42,000 an acre. Anyone who wants to participate in the auction will have to provide a cashier's check for half that amount by April 28.
The property is part of the Section 36/Spring Prairie school-trust section at the intersection of U.S. 93 and West Reserve Drive. It's in the southwest corner of the section, immediately west of the Kidsport ball-field complex.
The site is zoned for mixed residential uses. Public sewer and water service is nearby, and the U.S. 93 bypass will run adjacent to it.
Glacier High School is under construction in the northwest corner of Section 36, and the Spring Prairie Center retail complex is in the northeast corner.
Proceeds from the sale of this property will be used to purchase land elsewhere in Montana to benefit the school trust.
The successful bidder will have to develop the property according to the terms and conditions contained in the 2001 Section 36 Neighborhood Plan and planned-unit-development agreement. Kalispell also would have to approve any subdivision proposal.
The June 15 auction begins at 2 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Kalispell.
Details about the auction, including copies of the development agreement, can be downloaded from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Web site at www.dnrc.mt.gov/trust/KalispelllandAuction/.
