Destination ImagiNation teams from Kalispell and Bigfork are going global.

Winning first place in their categories at last weekend's Destination ImagiNation state meet in Manhattan, Mont., assured them of invitations to the global finals of the creative problem-solving competition.

But first, they have to come up with the money for the trip. The two Elrod teams are getting a start on their fundraising Saturday with a garage sale in the Elrod gym. The public is invited to shop between 8 a.m. and noon.

You can hunt for treasures donated by families and friends of the students. And there's a good chance of taking home some baked goods or candy bars, to boot.

It will be the first of several fundraisers the teams are organizing - they have about $20,000 to raise.

They also have an account set up at Glacier Bank. Ask for the Elrod Parent Group, Destination ImagiNation. Call coach Joe Power at 257-0374.

Two teams from Elrod and two from Bigfork qualified for global competition May 24-26 in Knoxville, Tenn.
