FHS sweeps CMR to open track season

GREAT FALLS - It sure didn't take sophomore Kendalyn Hable much time to make an impact.

Habel won the 100, long jump and ran on Flathead's winning 400 relay team to open the track season Friday afternoon.

"Her first year in track," said FHS coach Jerry Boschee.

"She looked great today for a rookie coming out. She's a competitor."

Liz Myers also won three events, taking firsts in the triple jump and 300 hurdles and also running on the 400 relay.

"She picked up right where she left off at the state track meet last year," said Boschee.

Habel and Myers helped the Bravettes defeat C.M. Russell in the track dual, 80-65.

"We only brought 44 girls, so we were hurting a little bit," said Boschee.

"With spring break (last week), we had a ton of kids who still don't have enough practices in or who were not ready to go."

Of those 44, 20 competed in their first meet Friday and 15 are in their second year of track.

"So we were lacking a little bit of experience," said Boschee.

On the boys side, Flathead put together a dominating effort, blasting CMR 117-28. The Braves won 15 of the 17 events.

Clint Manning was a triple winner for the Braves, posting top times in the 110 and 300 hurdles and taking first place in the high jump.
