Whitefish stops C-Falls

WHITEFISH - The Lady Bulldogs dropped just two tennis matches on the way to a 5-2 victory over Northwestern A rival Columbia Falls on Tuesday.
The match everyone came to see - the No. 1 doubles match between Kate Marcille/Sara Marcille and Jessie Kuennen/Taylor Beach - went all three sets. The Wildkats' Marcille sisters came away with the 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win.
"It was two powerhouse teams," Whitefish coach Patrick Dryden said. "They're both really going to contend."
Kuennen and Beach jumped out early and won the first set, but unforced errors and inconsistent play doomed their effort.
"For match point, Kate [Marcille] made about three incredible shots," Dryden said.
Dryden was also complimentary toward his No. 2 doubles team of Kyla Roy and Maresa Jenson.
"I was very impressed with them," he said. "I thought they just dominated from the opening point. They've really improved their play."
Up next for Whitefish is a home match with Polson at 3 p.m. on Thursday. The boys will play at Grouse Mountain and the girls will play at Riverside.
