Flathead, Bigfork go 1-1

BIGFORK - Cross-valley rivals Flathead and Bigfork squared off at the nets Monday, and split the boys' and girls' contests.

The Vikings bested the Braves, 4-3, while the Bravettes cruised past the Valkyries, 5-2.

"Overall as a team, it was nice to get to play a full dual," Flathead coach Buck Measure said. "Bigfork gave us an excellent match on both sides."

Flathead's roster was a little different due to the absence of Eric Skybak and Josh Brann, key doubles players for the Braves.

Margaret Koenig, who fell to Bigfork's Roxy Thurman in three sets, switched to singles after playing doubles this season.

"We're trying to find a good doubles match to find kids who play well together," Measure said.

Flathead travels to the Missoula Invite this Friday, and the team will be at full strength.
