Rose Russell Sapp, 65

Rose Russell Sapp was born Nov. 18, 1940, and died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at her residence in Fairhope, Ala.

Mrs. Sapp was born in Mobile, Ala., to Louis C. and Rose McPhillips Russell. She grew up in the Catholic school system, attending Bishop Toolen, then went to Auburn University where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. There she also met her future husband, Dr. Thomas F. Sapp.

Mrs. Sapp was a 1962 debutante in Mobile, making her debut that year. She was married in December 1962, and, after her husband completed medical training in Birmingham. Ala., moved to northwest Montana for 21 years. During that time she raised five children. During that time she also founded Doe Run Morgan Horses Inc., which kept her highly involved in breeding, raising, training and showing Morgan horses. She also raised Welsh ponies.

In 1988 Mrs. Sapp and her family moved back to the Mobile area, then subsequently to Fairhope, Ala., where she resided since 1999.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas F. Sapp, M.D., and her five children, Leslie Vestman of Denver, Rose Rogers of Chelsea, Ala., Thomas Frederick Sapp Jr., of Kalispell, Bragg Mattingly Sapp of Warner Robins, Ga., and Alexander Byrnes Sapp of Columbus, Ga.; and mother, Rose McPhillips Russell.

She is further survived by nine grandchildren, Jocelyn Sapp, Madelyn Sapp, Abby Sapp and Makayla Clifton, all of Warner Robins; Ethan Sapp of Kalispell; Chris and Kelly Vestman of Denver, and Leah and Madelyn Rogers of Chelsea, Ala.; brother, Buddy Russell, of Point Clear, Ala.; and sister, Meme Russell, of Birmingham; other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 29, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, beginning at 10 a.m. with services afterward at 11 a.m. in the chapel.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
