Hazel Montana Gilbertson Capps, 95

Hazel Montana Gilbertson Capps, 95, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born on Aug. 7, 1910, in Kalispell, Montana the daughter of Walter and Alelia (Clothier) Colby.

She attended local schools and was a graduate of Flathead County High School in 1930 The FCHS 1930 yearbook said of her, "And her eyes were as black as the berries that grew by the wayside."

She was married to Sidney A. Gilbertson in the spring of 1930. He preceded her in death in 1936. "Tana" as she was known, was a patient at the Galen Tuberculosis Hospital from 1936 to 1940. She lived in Butte, until she returned to Kalispell, for two years in 1944.

She then returned to work at Galen, becoming a licensed practical nurse. During this time she was married to Walton Capps who preceded her in death in 1968.

Upon her retirement in 1972, she returned to Kalispell, caring for her elderly mother for many years.

Tana was a very sociable person and enjoyed being in the company of people, the happier the better.

She is survived by her son, Sidney Gilbertson, and his wife, Eunice, of Oceanside, Calif.; two grandsons, Joseph and wife Mary Ann, and John and wife Kay; and great- grandchildren, Brittany, Tyler and Jessica; two sisters, Queveene Tally and husband Glenn, and Marie Sterner, all of Kalispell; one brother, George Colby, and wife, Rose, also of Kalispell; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

She will be greatly missed by her many friends acquaintances and her special friend Elmer Knudson.

Graveside services for Hazel will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m Friday, Aug. 4, at Johnson Mortuary.
