Joseph Addison (Brousard) Tippets, 67, passed away Aug. 3, 2006, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

Joe was born March 14, 1939, in Norfolk, Va. He graduated from high school in Cody, Wyo., and later spent several years in the Army based at Fort Hood, Texas. After his military service, Joe worked as an electrician and refrigerator mechanic in New Mexico, Oregon, Wyoming and Montana.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved canoeing, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

In 1978, Joe moved to the Montana Veterans Home after surviving a severe cerebral aneurysm and lived there for 28 years. At the home, he spent many hours playing billiards, watching basketball games and savoring his visits to Dairy Queen.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joe is survived by three daughters, Mauri Tippets of Portland, Heidi L. Klenski of Salem, Ore., and Rachelle Shelli J. White of Portland, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A simple graveside service was held Aug. 7 at the Montana Veterans Home Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
