3 KATS win state titles in Bozeman

Three Kalispell Aquatic Team Swimmers won state titles July 27-29 at the Montana State Long Course Swimming Championships in Bozeman.

The champions were 8-year-old Kyersten Siebenaler, Kelsey Iblings, 14, and Logan Hunter, 14.

Hunter won the 50-meter backstroke championship with a time of 33.94 seconds. He was also the 50 butterfly champion with a time of 31.21. Hunter won the same two events in March at the short course championships.

Siebenaler and Iblings won their first state titles. Siebenaler won the 50 backstroke in 47.24 while Iblings won the 50 breaststroke with a time of 38.86.

Hunter, Siebenaler and Iblings each led their respective races from start to finish.

Nine Kalispell swimmers competed at the meet and each athlete set multiple personal bests.

Taylor Streit, 18, and Logan Streit, 12, each placed in the top seven in six events. The KATS also earned two fourth-place finishes in the girls 13-14 relays. Relay team members were Iblings, Quin Stevens, 13, Danielle Hammett, 13, and Ashley Judd, 13.

Hunter earned six top-six finishes, including second in the 50 breaststroke, third in the 100 backstroke, fourth in the 100 breaststroke and sixth in the 50 freestyle.

Iblings finished fifth in the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. She also took sixth in the 50 butterfly.
