þ Robert Duane Bob Severson, 74
Robert Duane Bob Severson, 74, passed away at his home in Whitefish on Friday, July 14, 2006.
He was born April 27, 1932, in Detroit Lakes, Minn, to Sam and Julia Severson.
At age 17 he joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart.
In 1953, Bob married the beautiful Carol Hamre and, shortly after, moved to Kalispell and raised their five children, David, Lorinda, Rickie, Daniel and Paul.
Bob built a beautiful home for his family, complete with a little red barn, equipped with apartment and all. He always burned the candle at both ends for his family.
Bob was a master mechanic and had a love for cars. He retired from the North Slope in Alaska and then became Handyman par Excellence. He could fix, build, or create whatever the task called for. If he was ever your handyman, you know what I m talking about.
His pranks, as far as we know, are unsurpassed. And his gift for joke telling brought on many tears of laughter. Bob never judged you; he just accepted you.
Bob loved his granddaughters, Keela and Nishka, and was always there with report card money, love and keeping it real. He was so excited when grandson Ryan came to carry on the Severson name.
Bob only called one person, Boss and that is his son, Daniel, who was always there for him and with him his buddy, friend, cook and caretaker.
Bob loved playing cards and going to Casey s with Richard, Colin and Daniel.
He kept up with the Mariners and 49 ers, even though at times it seemed they couldn t keep up with him, wheelchair and all.
Bob was very proud of his children and always supportive of their accomplishments, choices and adventures.
Bob always treated family and friends to holiday dinners, bringing everyone together. For breakfast at Denny s or the VFW, friends and extra were always welcome.
He was always our stubborn Norwegian, but really our loving Norwegian.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Carol; son, Rickie; parents, Sam and Julia; brother, John; and sisters, Irene and Delores.
Bob is survived by his son, David and his wife Lan, and their son, Anthony, of Honolulu; daughter, Lorinda, and her husband, Richard, and their daughters, Keela and Nishka, of Whitefish; son, Daniel, of Whitefish; son, Paul and his wife Shannon, and their son, Ryan, of Las Vegas; his brother, Sam, and wife, Beverly, of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob s generosity to all he met will never be forgotten. He was a wonderful and awesome human being. He will be greatly missed.
We love you, Bob.
