A 60-year-old man went ahead of his hiking companion on a Columbia Mountain trail

shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, and was not seen again until shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday.

The North Valley Search and Rescue Team and an ALERT helicopter hunted for him during the night until he was found hiking out Sunday morning about a quarter-mile from the trailhead.
