| August 17, 2006 1:00 AM

James "Jim" Vincent Boerner, 80, of Whitefish, "entered into eternal rest" on Aug. 10, 2006, at his home in Mountain View Manor.

Jim, a dual citizen of Canada and the United States, was born on Oct. 17, 1925, in Dromore, Prince Edward Island. Jim was the younger son of Emil Boerner of Whitefish and Stella Hughes Boerner of Prince Edward Island.

Jim was reared in Whitefish by his father, Emil, and his stepmother, Katie Boerner. After living much of his life as a free spirit wanderer, Jim returned to his Whitefish roots in his later years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Arthur Emil Boerner.

Though Jim had no children of his own, he will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephew, sister-in-law, and many other extended family members.

Jim is survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Boerner Silliker, of Kalispell; nieces, Linda (Boerner) Borgos of St. Paul, Minn., Judith (Boerner) West of Little Rock, Ark., and Katherine "Katie" Boerner of Naples, Idaho; nephew, Robert Jones, of Seattle; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.

Jim's kind heart and adventuresome spirit will be remembered by other family members and friends as well.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish, with the Rev. John Bent officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish.
