Shakespeare on the slopes

| August 18, 2006 1:00 AM

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks will offer a free performance of the Shakespeare comedy "Love's Labours Lost" at Big Mountain on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The story finds four would-be scholars who have sworn off the fairer sex to devote themselves to study. They are then confronted with four lovely ladies with whom they fall in love. Will they keep their vow to be slaves to their education? Absolutely not.

The courtships, fraught with comic obstacles, fizz along merrily as romantic entanglements ensnare the locals as well. While the books gather dust, we all are given a different lesson in the importance of a hearty laugh on our way to true love.

The performance will be given on the slope of Easy Rider, uphill from the Morning Eagle building. Seating will not be provided; bring chairs or blankets.

While there is no admission charged, beer, wine, coffee, snacks, and food will be sold. Picnic supplies are admissible.

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks brings professional productions at no cost to the public to communities throughout Montana, northern Wyoming, and eastern Idaho thanks to support from foundation grants, individual donations and corporate sponsorships. The self-sufficient touring company features 11 professional actors supported by a variety of designers and technicians.
