Glenda Mae Reed, 72

Glenda Mae Reed, 72, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, held in the arms of her family at Brendan House in Kalispell. She was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Kalispell to Glen and Thelma Mikesell. She was raised on the family farm west of Whitefish. Glenda attended grade school and high school in Whitefish.

During her teenage years, Glenda met her future husband, who was working for her father on their farm. On Oct. 20, 1952, Glenda and Carl Martin Reed eloped and were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Glenda spent the first years of her marriage in Fort Lewis, Wash., where Carl was stationed in the Army. Their first son, Billie, was born there. They then returned to the Flathead where sons Ron and David were born.

Glenda spent her life enjoying many things, including camping, gardening, ceramics and cake decorating. Raising and loving her family were what she did best; with family gatherings, camping trips, seeing her grandchildren, and chatting on the telephone the highlights of her life. Glenda shared a special bond with her eldest granddaughter, Brittany.

"With a heart the size of Heaven and hugs to match, she will be missed and memories of her treasured until we meet again."

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She is survived by her three sons, Billie and wife, Lisa, and their children, Jennifer and Stephanie, and grandchildren, Zachary and Riley; Ron and wife, Kim, and their children, Kalen and Kyla; David and wife, Lore, and their children, Brittany, Travis and Smoky, all of Kalispell; except Jennifer, who lives in Texas. Glenda also is survived by a brother, Marvin Mikesell, and wife, Jolene, of Whitefish; a sister, Loretta Enger, and husband, Magnus, of Columbia Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services for Glenda will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, in the Johnson Mortuary chapel, with Dr. David Kauffman officiating. Burial will be afterward in the Glacier Memorial Gardens. Visitation for Glenda will be from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Mortuary.
