Virginia Donaldson 'went home to be with our Lord' on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006. 'The heavens rejoiced' and her family mourns her passing. She will be missed but her pain is at an end. Virginia was born Aug. 11, 1925, to John and Anna Schick.

She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Linsmeier; and brothers, Eddie Schick of Menominee, Mich., and John Schick of Wildwood, Fla.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald and Raymond Schick; her husband, Harry Donaldson; and son, Kevin Donaldson.

Virginia leaves behind three daughters, Lynn Pratter of Eureka, Karen Apeland of Fortine, and Bobbi Powers of Laurel. She has 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was born and raised in Menominee, where she met and married Harry Donaldson in 1946. The couple then moved to Tuscaloosa, Ala., where Harry completed his college education. In 1948, the couple moved to Hot Springs, and in 1953 they moved to Eureka, where they raised their four children.

Some of Virginia's favorite memories included swimming, water skiing, sunbathing, and enjoying sunsets and evenings around the bonfire with family and friends. 'Red skies at night' were Grandma's delight. Virginia also enjoyed gardening, especially her roses.

She was involved in Campfire Girls, the Sundowners, Glen Lake Bridge Club, Glen Lake Investment Group, and loved to play pinochle.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the First Baptist Church in Eureka. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Arrangements are by Nelson and Vial Funeral Home in Eureka.
