Fire damages mobile home

A child playing with matches or a lighter is the suspected cause of a fire Thursday morning in a mobile home on College Avenue. The Kalispell and Evergreen fire departments were called at 9:30 a.m. with reports that people might be inside the burning home. Kalispell police helped a young man out of the trailer; several children and another adult escaped safely. About 10 firefighters were able to knock down the fire within minutes, but damage was estimated at $8,000. The owners reportedly have no insurance, and the American Red Cross was contacted.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office dispatched emergency agencies Thursday to Glacier Park International Airport when a small aircraft reported problems with icing upon approaching the airport. The plane was redirected, and no problem was reported.
