Agnes Marie Falkner, 95

Agnes Marie Falkner, 95, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 24, 2006, at Lake View Care Center in Bigfork.

She was born in Kalispell on March 15, 1911, to Frank and Francis (Monk) Calbick. She attended school locally and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1929.

Agnes left Kalispell to further her education at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. She came home during a school break, and her childhood sweetheart, Bob, asked her to marry him. She left college behind, became engaged to the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Falkner, and was married from her family home June 5, 1934, by the Rev. Harold E. Stark. Agnes and Bob were married more than 50 years until Bob's death in 1987.

Agnes was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was the first Worthy Advisor of Rainbow for Girls and a member of Chapter C, P.E.O. since 1938.

She is survived by three nieces, Diane "Corky" Derby and Duane Hawk, both of Kalispell, and Marilyn Peterson of Flagstaff, Ariz. Her sister-in-law, Lois Gorton of Kalispell, also survives her.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert Gorton, and her nephew, Bob McGuire. Bob's wife, Beverly, lives in Kalispell.

Memorial services for Agnes will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell, with the Rev. Glen Burfeind officiating.
