Betty Virginia (Clapper) Fauerso, 81, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, "went to be with our Lord and Savior" on Jan. 24, 2006, at the Mercy Scripps Hospital in San Diego as a result of complications from emphysema and pneumonia.

Betty was born Oct. 2, 1924, in National City, Calif., to Harold and Beth Clapper.

In March 1956, Betty married Hal Fauerso. Hal and Betty were married for 28 years, living in San Diego, and Kalispell from 1973 to 1984. In 1984, Betty returned to San Diego to care for her mother.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmo Clapper, and her husband, Hal Fauerso.

Betty is survived by her three children, Alan Holmstrom of Monterey, Calif., and Judy Fauerso Sommers and husband, Brian, and Steve Fauerso and wife, Deb, all of Kalispell. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kerri, Michael, Alan, Michelle, Sarah, Suzanne and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Savannah and Ty.

Betty was an avid San Diego Padres and San Diego Chargers fan. If she couldn't attend the game, she watched it on television. Her next love in life was dancing, preferably ballroom.

Betty will always be remembered for her upbeat nature and her giving and caring ways. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend in need. Whether it was a ride to dinner or just someone to visit with, Betty was always there.

Memorial services were held in Ramona, Calif., on Jan. 28.

Donations in her memory may be sent to the San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Ave., San Diego, CA 92103; The American Lung Association, 2750 Fourth Ave., San Diego, CA 92103; or The Spinal Cord Society, 19051 County Highway No. 1, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.
