Charles David Nelson, 85

Charles David Nelson, 85, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

He was born June 24, 1920, on the family farm southeast of Dooley, Mont., the son of David W. and Martha J. (Lindvall) Nelson. He attended schools at Rocky Springs School and graduated from the eighth grade. He attended Dooley High School. He graduated from the School of Agriculture and attended four quarters at the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Alice M. Nielsen on Sept. 18, 1949, at the Highland Lutheran Church in Outlook. He was a farmer and raised cattle in northeast Montana until fall 1992, when they relocated to Kalispell. He was an avid reader and loved working with his hands, especially working the land and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lucille Goetzinger.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Nelson, of Kalispell; his daughter, Charlene Kranitz and husband, Tony, and son, Dale Nelson, and friend, Candy, of Great Falls; son, Clayton Nelson of Havre, and daughter, Debra Conaway and husband, Dean, of Kalispell; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Otten, of Kalispell.

Memorial services for Charles will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers, with Pastor Wayne Pris officiating. There will be no visitation.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Eidsvold Lutheran Church, 5935 U.S. 93 S., Somers, MT 59932.
