Thelma Smith, 93

Thelma Smith, 93, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at North Valley Hospital.

She was the first of six children born to Ephraim and Sadie Street. She was born at the family farm northwest of Kalispell. The family moved to Whitefish where she attended grade and high school, graduating in 1931.

She was united in marriage to Elmer Smith on Dec. 25, 1931. They had one son, Gary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers.

Surviving her is her son Gary and his wife, Ann; three granddaughters, Tracy and husband, Bruce Freeman and two great-granddaughters, Lindsay and Dani of Coralville, Iowa; Tami and husband, John Barrett, and great-grandchildren, Kacie and Jackson; and Toni and husband, Craig Fischer, and great-grandchildren, Bryce and Lacie, all of Kalispell; and two sisters, Marvel Logan of Columbia Falls, and Allyce Street of Whitefish.

She was very active in Presbyterian church, North Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Vista Chapter No. 44 Order of Eastern Star, and Mountains Trails Saddle when it existed, and she served as treasurer of all above named for many years. She was also honored as First Lady of Whitefish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Presbyterian church or the charity of your choice.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church of Whitefish.
