Zemke, Crusaders in MCAA title game

HELENA - Charity Zemke cashed in big from the free throw line and Flathead Valley Home School rode the 37-point effort by the star guard to a 69-60 victory over Stillwater Christian School Friday in the semifinals of the MCAA state girls basketball tournament.

Zemke was near perfect from the "charity" stripe, sinking 23 of 26 foul shots.

Janelle Sheeran also had a big offensive effort, finishing with 21 points.

Brittany Downing scored 19 points for Stillwater Christian while Emma Miller had 15 and Nichole Danz 14.

Stillwater led 19-17 after eight minutes of play, but Flathead Valley took a 36-28 lead at the half.

The second half was evenly played.

Flathead Valley will face the Yellowstone Lady Knights today at 3:15 p.m. at Carroll College for the state title.

HELENA - Stillwater Christian School had three players hit double-figure scoring, tallied 54 points in the opening half and rolled from there to a 92-45 victory Thursday over Bozeman Christian during the opening-round session of the boys MCAA state basketball tournament at Carroll College.

The Cougars led 54-29 at the half in advancing to the semifinals on Friday versus Gallatin Valley (no results).

Andy Harrel led Stillwater Christian with 27 points. He did not score in the final period.

Bryce Snyder added 19 points for the victors and Mason Gertz 13.
