Alma O. Parkinson, 100
Alma O. Parkinson, 100, of Libby, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Libby Care Center.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1905, in Dwight, N.D., the daughter of Albert E. and Oloplene (Nelson) Runsvold. She attended schools and graduated from Flathead County High School.
She was married to Robert J. Parkinson. She worked for several years for the Neil's family in Libby as housekeeper and nanny. She later worked as housemother at Twin Bridges Orphanage before moving to Medical Lake, Wash., to be housemother at Lakeland Village. She retired in 1965 and moved to Seattle. She later relocated to Tacoma and returned to Libby, in 1991, to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She became a resident of Libby Care Center in 1998.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Parkinson Madison; two granddaughters, Joanne Parkinson and Carla Madison; a sister, Clara Runsvold Howell; and three brothers, Henry Runsvold, Norman Runsvold and Donald Runsvold.
She is survived by a daughter, Dolores Parkinson Young, of Seattle; a son, Richard Parkinson, and wife, Mitzi, of Libby; a sister, Evelyn Runsvold Sullivan, of Kalispell; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
Funeral services for Alma will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
