Virginia L. Corbeille, 80

Virginia L. Corbeille, 80, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Virginia was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Harvey, Ill., to Anthony and Josephine Garno. Her family moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., when she was 7 years of age She completed high school in Santa Barbara and then attended beauty school.

She worked as a beauty operator for a number of years until she started a family. Virginia met her husband, Gene at "The Fiesta," or "Old Spanish Days" in Santa Barbara, in 1946. This was a yearly festival that featured Spanish music and goods from Mexico. They were married the following year and had been married for 58 years. They raised a son, David, and now have three grandchildren.

Virginia was very athletic in her youth, pitching for several women's baseball teams during the war years. She was also a singer and dancer and entertained the troops at Camp Cook for the USO.

She became an accomplished seamstress and made clothes for Gene and David, as well as other family and friends.

Gene and Virginia are devout Christians and attended the Church of the Open Bible, as well as the Assemblies of God.

They moved to the Flathead Valley in 1993 to be close to their son, David.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Gene, of Kalispell; son, David and Susan Corbeille, and three grandchildren, Michael, Laura and Daniel Corbeille, all of Kalispell.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday Jan. 9, at the Kalispell Apostolic Church with the Rev. Dawn Schnur officiating.
