Storm produces 'epic powder'

Powder hounds are in their glory at area ski resorts after a major storm on Tuesday and Wednesday dropped 16 inches of snow in 24 hours at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area at Lakeside and 12 inches at the summit of Big Mountain in Whitefish.
Snow early Tuesday caused power outages at Big Mountain that forced the resort to shut down by early afternoon, but everything was "back to normal" by Wednesday morning, spokesman Brian Schott said.
The heavy snow caused a few delays Wednesday as the ski patrol checked avalanche conditions, but otherwise skiers were having a great day in the thick, new powder.
Over the past four days, Big Mountain has picked up 42 inches of snow at the summit, for a settled base of 93 inches. In the village area, the settled base is 41 inches.
Blacktail's seven-day total was 24 inches, for a settled base at midmountain of 66 inches.
Blacktail reported an "epic powder" day on Wednesday.
