Flathead County Planning Board member Kathy Robertson announced Wednesday that she will file as a Republican candidate for county commissioner.
Robertson, a resident of Somers, recently was appointed to her third two-year term on the Planning Board.
She has been actively involved in several other local planning efforts, including the Natural Resources Committee, helping to write a neighborhood plan for the Somers community, and helping review and update the county subdivision regulations and county growth policy.
Robertson was born in Billings and graduated from Flathead High School.
She later moved to California with her husband, Dave, where she raised three children, earned a degree in political science from Cal State Fullerton, and taught English and math to inmates in the state prison.
After moving to Michigan, Robertson attended graduate school and continued to teach. She was a member of the local ski patrol, operated a successful Color Tile and Carpet franchise, and served on the township planning board for 15 years.
Robertson subsequently was elected twice to the township Board of Trustees.
She and her husband returned to Montana in 2000, when they formed a real-estate and investment corporation. She also teaches skiing at Big Mountain.
Robertson is a candidate for Commissioner Bob Watne's District 3 seat, which covers the western and southwestern portion of the county.
