And the voting is on!

Ballots were to be distributed Thursday for Kalispell-area sixth-, seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders to have their say on the mascot for the new Glacier High School.

Those schools who will send students to the new high school - Helena Flats, West Valley, Evergreen, Olney/Bissell, Edgerton, Russell, Linderman and Kalispell Junior High - received the ballots.

Students will vote on whether they want to be called the Wolverines, the Bears or the Wolfpack. Ballots are due back to the Kalispell District 5 superintendent's office by Friday, Jan. 27.

Those three names were approved by Kalispell trustees at their last meeting, based on a second-round recommendation by a mascot-naming committee.

The overall winner in the student vote will become Glacier High's new mascot, after formal approval by the school board.
