Bravettes third, Braves fourth at Missoula Invitational swim

MISSOULA - Flathead settled for third, girls, and fourth, boys, place finishes on the team front at the Missoula Invitational Saturday at the Grizzly Pool.

With combined scores, Flathead came in second.

"A great team effort," said Flathead coach Paul Stelter.

"That's the first meet I've seen this year where they all worked together."

Stelter said outstanding swims were turned in by Dan Browne, 100 back, 200 free and in the 400 freestyle relay, and freshman Sammie Hammet, 200 IM and the anchor leg of the 400 free relay.

The Flathead boys and girls won the 200 freestyle relay.

Top individual placers for Flathead were: Brian Brady, second in the 50 freestyle; Jacey Stahlberg, second in both the 50 and 100 freestyle; and Jenna Thiel, second in the 100 breaststroke.

The final swim meet of the regular season is Saturday, the Helena Invitational. State follows Feb. 10-11 in Hardin.
