Dagney Marie Nelson, 97

Dagney Marie Nelson, 97, of Bartlesville, Okla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in her home. She was born Dec. 12, 1908, in Webster, S.D., to Eva and Peder Sakariason. Dagney moved with her family to the Flathead Valley in Montana in 1911. She attended school in Kalispell.

She married Clarence Afdahl and had one son, Ronald Afdahl.

She remarried in 1932 to Oscar Nelson and they made their home in Kalispell for many years until Oscar's death. She maintained the home there until 1995, when she moved to Bartlesville, Okla., to be near her son.

Dagney was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bartlesville, as well as in Kalispell, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Bank of Oklahoma.

Dagney was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Dagney was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Peder Sakariason; her husband, Oscar Nelson; her son, Ronald Afdahl; four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann Afdahl; a great-nephew, Mitch Gamache, his wife, Mandy, and their children, Erika Ann and Julia; and a nephew, Wayne Sakariason. She also leaves behind her beloved kitty, Tammy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Johnson Mortuary. Graveside services will be afterward at 2 p.m. in the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Mark E. Carter of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bartlesville officiating.

The family suggests memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, be given to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3700 S.E. Woodland Road, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
