Columbia Falls police are investigating a report of an assault at Glacier Inn Motel.

Police were called to a three-vehicle accident in the junior-high-school parking lot; two of the vehicles were unoccupied.

Power went out in town for about an hour Monday afternoon. Flathead Electric Cooperative spokeswoman Stephanie Wallace said a fuse blew in a transformer, taking out the feeder to a substation and blacking out power to about 2,000 people. The cause? It's likely a squirrel getting into equipment, she said.
