Davis dominates action in Compact Division

The John Evertz Memorial Hobby Stock 75 was the main attraction last Saturday night at Montana Raceway Park.

Dan Lewis pulled off the victory in that 75-lap event, which features no pit stops, for his first main event victory of the season.

Jed Shue finished second, Corey Pilsch third and rookie driver Mike Rowe, who also is running in the Bomber Division, came in fourth.

Hobby Stock driver Dustin Martell picked up his first win ever in the trophy dash.

And Shue, the 2005 points champion, won the trophy dash.

In the heat race it was a very familar sight with Shue, Lewis and Pilsch all battling it out in every turn. In the end, however, it was Shue taking the win over Lewis.

Compact driver Tim Davis dominated the action in his class, nearly pulling off a sweep.

He beat Russell Smyth in both the heat and the main event. And he started the evening off by timing with the fast time of 15.54 seconds.

Davis is now leading the points race with Smyth a close second.

Dan Demars took the trophy dash in the Compact Division.

The other main event winners on the night were Alex Lessor in the Limited Sportsman and Ida Smith in the Hornets.

The 16th annual Montana 200 is scheduled for this weekend.

Montana 200 events will kick off starting Thursday with the Super Late Model open practice. The Rainbow Bar and Casino will hold a race party that evening starting at 5. Montana 200 drivers will then be on hand for an autograph session at 7.
