Additional information was released Tuesday about counterfeit $100 bills passed recently to businesses in the valley.

Whitefish Chamber of Commerce President Sheila Bowen sent a memorandum listing the serial numbers CB98657401E, CB986570403E, CB98657406E, CB98657409E. The series number is 2003 while the faceplate number is A117.

The counterfeit bills have no strip or red-and-blue thread. The paper also is heavier than regular currency and the color stain on the $100 stays a steady green.

Counterfeit pens do not work on this bill. They show them as valid.

Anyone who has one of these bills should call Whitefish police at 863-2420. Investigators want to know if any store receiving a counterfeit bill had a video camera running at the time of the exchange.

Bowen sent a memo out Friday warning people that two 20-year-old Hispanic men driving a red Maxima with Utah plates were coming to the valley to pass the counterfeit $100 bills.
