Bobcats sign two JC transfers
BOZEMAN (AP) - The Montana State football team has signed two transfers from California junior colleges and lost another assistant coach.
Receiver Kyle Wimberly transfers from Moorpark College, where he averaged 14 yards per catch and helped the team to a 7-4 record in 2004. He redshirted last season to run track and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Tight end Darnell Worthy played two seasons at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif. He started as a freshman and was a backup to all-conference tight end Matt Simms, who signed with Utah earlier this year.
Worthy is expected to fill the slot vacated by Nick Parker of Missoula, who recently left the team.
Coach Mike Kramer also announced the resignation of linebackers coach Jason Linders.
"He's moving to the Las Vegas area primarily to be near his family," Kramer said.
Linders was named linebackers coach in February after defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski left for Boise State. Former linebacker coach Rob Christoff took over as defensive coordinator.
Kane Ioane, a two-time all-Big Sky Conference safety, who was a secondary coach last season, will take over the linebackers.

MSU player nets tennis honor
BOZEMAN (AP) - Montana State tennis player Mark Gebicki has been named to the ESPN The Magazine academic all-America at-large first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The men's at-large program for academic all-American honors NCAA Division I athletes who compete in fencing, golf, hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming, gymnastics, tennis and wrestling.
Gebicki, a senior from Lodz, Poland, posted a 3.99 grade point average in industrial engineering and helped lead the Bobcats to three consecutive Big Sky Conference titles and three straight NCAA tennis championship appearances.
"What Marek accomplished both on and off the court in the past four years is truly phenomenal," said MSU tennis coach Mike Phillips. "He worked just as hard off the court as he did in practice and in matches. He is what this program is all about - and that is to accomplish on the court, but even more importantly, in the classroom."
Gebicki earned second-team academic all-American honors as a junior.
