Vivian Marie Pallo, 86, of Coos Bay, Ore., passed away June 9, 2006, in Coos Bay.

She was born May 28, 1920, in Delong, Fulton County, Ind. She was the oldest daughter of Sidney R. and Amanda (Shadle) Green. She had two younger sisters, Betty and Helen.

Vivian married Robert John Palo on Feb. 14, 1941, in Chicago Heights, Cools County, Ill. They had one son, James Robert Pallo.

Vivian lived in many areas of the country throughout her life. She grew up in Indiana and lived in Illinois after her marriage where she and Bob had a mink farm. Later, they moved to Michigan where they worked a 'truck farm.' It was there that their son was born. They also lived in Alaska and California, where Vivian worked in the dental profession.

It was in 1952 while vacationing in Montana that she and Bob bought a ranch in the Flathead Valley and spent many years ranching here while raising their son. In 1967, they went into business in Libby and were there until their retirement when they were able to become 'snowbirds' and enjoy a great deal of traveling. At that time, they had a home in Texas as well, until finally settling in Coos Bay in 1991.

Vivian was an amazing lady and was loved by all. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband passed away in 1994 and since that time, she had lived with her son, James Robert Pallo, and her daughter-in-law, Lorraine, in Coos Bay. She loved to go to the beach when she was able. She loved to read and enjoy the birds outside of her window.

She was a registered member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife, Lorraine; three grandchildren, J. Garrett Pallo and wife, Rachel, of North Bend, Ore., J. Aaron Pallo and wife, Nicole, and Heather Gomez and husband, Karl, all of Coos Bay; five great-grandchildren; and a goddaughter, Marianne Niessner, of Denver; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, her parents, and both sisters.

A graveside service was held June 14 at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 541-267-4216.
