"His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ received Frank Miciewicz, 87, into heaven" in the presence of his loving family on June 21, 2006.

Frank was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Gardener, Mass., to Justine and John Miciewicz. He grew up with three brothers and each was very athletic. As a young man, he swam competitively and played football in high school. He was also a player on a semi-professional baseball team.

Frank entered the army in 1943 with the infantry. He served in the European Campaign in England, France and Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he joined his brother Joe in Montana, working as a lumberjack.

On June 17, 1951, Frank married Marjorie May Alton of Creston. They were married for 55 years at the time of his passing.

Frank worked as telephone lineman for Pacific Power and Light Company from 1951 until retiring in 1984. He spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren in Kalispell and traveling to see a grandson in Texas.

In addition to being an avid reader, he loved to collect books and tools. Frank loved to watch baseball and boxing on television and was fascinated with all things relating to blacksmithing. He enjoyed Montana's mountains, lakes and streams and treated them with the utmost respect.

Family was first and foremost in Frank's life. He loved them all, especially his beloved wife, Margie. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of loving their Creator and showing affection.

Frank taught them how to tie knots, whistle, appreciate books, recycle and take care of possessions, share knowledge, value education, give a firm handshake, keep prejudice out of their hearts, to work hard, leave a place in better condition than how they found it, to remember their manners and to always remain humble.

Frank is survived by his wife, Margie; daughter, Diane Brooks and grandchildren Meredith Brooks, and Alex Brooks and his wife, Helen; son, David Miciewicz and wife, Susan Timmons, and grandchildren Caroline and Joseph Miciewicz; son, Daniel Miciewicz and wife, Tammy, and grandchildren Trever and fiancee, Rachel; great-grandson Gavin Lee Miciewicz, and Clinton and Noah Miciewicz, all of Kalispell; a daughter, Debra Royal and husband, Chuck, and grandson Zachary, all of Bastrop, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank leaves behind his wife's extended family, who became treasured friends.

His friend and son-in-law, Randy Brooks, preceded Frank in death in 2002. Brothers Kusty, Joe and Ed Miciewicz and infant sister, Anne, all preceded him in death.

"Farewell until we meet again, precious Grandpa."

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, following with interment of ashes at Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is lovingly caring for the family.
