Old World classics under the Montana sky

An "Evening In Vienna" is the musical theme of an outdoor family concert featuring the Glacier Symphonic Pops orchestra on Saturday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Led by conductor, John Zoltek, the Glacier Symphony and Chorale event will be held at Rebecca Farm, located in the heart of the Flathead valley.

Gates will open at 6:45 p.m. for picnic-goers who are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and their favorite food or beverage. Vendors will also be selling food and treats before the start of the 7:30 p.m. concert. The concert will be held rain or shine and seating will be available on a first-come-first-served basis inside the Rebecca Farm Pavilion.

The concert repertoire will feature an evening of Viennese light classics, marches, overtures, polkas and waltzes.

Musi will range from traditional favorites such as the "Blue Danube" and "Hungarian Dances" to popular classics such as the "Light Cavalry Overture" and "The Sound of Music."

The 2006-07 season brochure will be available at the concert with special discounted tickets being offered through July 31. Raffle tickets for the seventh annual GSC Automobile Raffle, featuring a chance to win a 2007 Chevy TrailBlazer provided by Eisinger Motors or $20,000 cash, will also be available for purchase.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults with youth (K-12) admitted free.

Tickets are available in advance at GSC outlets: Books West in Kalispell; The Village Shop, Dwyers' Gallery and Montana Coffee Traders downtown in Whitefish; Glacier Wallflower in Columbia Falls; ArtFusion in Bigfork; Sliter's Ace Hardware in Lakeside; Big Sky Century 21 Realty in Polson, and at the gates.

To reach Rebecca Farm, take U.S. 93 to Reserve, travel west to Spring Creek Road, turn left and follow signs to the gates.
