Lamont 'Monty' D. Morrison, 82

Lamont "Monty" D. Morrison, 82, died Feb. 5, 2006, at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center in Red Wing, Minn.

He was born April 24, 1923, in Sac County, Iowa, the son of Hubert and Gladys (Friesner) Morrison. He attended high school in Everly, Iowa.

He married Carol Larson in 1946 in Iowa. They moved to Minnesota in the early 1950s, and in the early 1970s to Red Wing. Monty worked for the Minnesota Highway Department, retiring in 1985.

They lived in Rochester for three years, then moved to Kalispell in 1997 to be near their son, Gary. Carol died in 2000.

Monty married Marcella "Marcie" Melchert Petersmeyer in Red Wing in 2002. They lived in Montana and spent summers in Wisconsin. In fall 2005, they moved to Grove, Okla. They recently moved back to Red Wing. Monty enjoyed traveling, country music and Bible study.

His wife Carol; son, Robert; granddaughter, Julia; sister, Mary; and brother, James, preceded Monty in death.

Survivors include his wife, Marcie; one daughter, Sylvia, of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Gary and wife, Laurie, and Craig and wife, Debra, of St. Paul, Minn.; one stepson, David, and wife, Jan Petersmeyer, of Red Wing; grandsons, Greg and wife, Jenny, of Connecticut, and Alexander and Jon of Kalispell; granddaughter, Jennifer Madigan of Minneapolis; two stepgrandsons; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Lou and husband, Robert Lint, and Wilma Jean Hanson, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

There was a visitation in Red Wing at the Mahn Family Funeral Home. Memorial services and interment will be at 1 p.m. April 22 at the Foursquare Church in Kalispell, with the Rev. Richard Whittet presiding.
