More subdivisions on Whitefish council agenda
The Daily Inter Lake
Subdivision activity continues to dominate the Whitefish City Council agenda with three public hearings scheduled Monday.
First up is the 12-lot Mountain Pines Phase III project that failed to get a zone-change recommendation from the Planning Board last month. Developer Rob Pero wants to rezone five acres on Lion Mountain Road from suburban to one-family residential to accommodate lots ranging in size from a quarter to three-quarters of an acre. The Planning Board said the zone change was inconsistent with the current master-plan land-use designation.
Hilltop Partners wants approval of a 21-lot subdivision on seven acres at Great Northern Heights behind Western Building Center. This project has the Planning Board's blessing.
Also up for consideration is Yellow Pine Estates, a four-lot subdivision on 4.17 acres on the west side of East Lakeshore Drive. Planners also approved this development.
A fourth public hearing deals with the city's new stormwater utility plan. The council is expected to adopt the plan.
In other business, the council will consider an ordinance that makes the Whitefish Convention and Visitor Bureau the collecting agency for Whitefish's state bed-tax allocations. The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce currently gets the bed-tax money and distributes it to the visitor bureau. The restructuring effort also would make the bureau's board of directors an appointed city committee.
The council will be asked to authorize construction of a $693,000 parks maintenance shop.
A 5:30 p.m. special session includes a report from Cheryl Tally, program manager for Eagle Transportation.
The regular meeting begins at 7:10 p.m. Both meetings are at Whitefish City Hall.
