Anita Marie Gilmond, 86

Anita Marie Gilmond, 86, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

Anita was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Gateway, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Sorensen) Eskildsen. Anita grew up in the Eureka area and graduated from Lincoln County High School.

Anita married Wilfred Gilmond in Eureka, on July 15, 1939. Anita was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Anita was a school bus driver for 26 years. In 1984 she was awarded the Outstanding School Bus Driver of the Year by Montana Pupil Transportation Board for her 26 years without an accident and over one half million miles driven.

She enjoyed crocheting, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred, and a son, Gordon R. Gilmond.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. and husband, Jack Higle, of Eureka; daughter-in-law, Geri Gilmond Solum of Somers; grandchildren, Angela and husband, Mike Newton, Christine and husband, Jeff Berke, Marcie Clayton, Mike and wife, Heidi Gilmond, Daren and wife, Greta Gilmond, Nicki and husband, John Swinehart, and Desiree Gilmond. Anita also had 17 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held.
