A driver needed to be warned, another driver told police. Seems another driver in a newer sport utility vehicle with that distinctive license plate pulled out in front of the offended driver and caused sudden brake-slamming, not fender-bending, Tuesday afternoon.

A resident asked for police standby while retrieving belongings from a local motel room. Officers contacted a man in that room, who said he didn't have the items. He said he'd given them to somebody else the night before, for that person to pass along to the owner. The story didn't wash. The owner filled out a theft report.
