Beulah Catherine Chapman Buck, 91, formerly of Columbia Falls, passed away March 22, 2006, in Auburn, Wash.

Beulah was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Makoti, N.D., to Frank and Grace Brassfield Chapman. In 1919, Beulah came to Kalispell with her parents and siblings. Beulah was educated in Kalispell, graduating from Flathead County High School in 1934.

Beulah married Howard V. Buck of Creston on June 1, 1938, in Kalispell. They lived a few years on the Buck homestead in Creston, before moving to a farm south of Columbia Falls. Howard and Beulah ran Howard Buck's Garden until Howard's death in 1979. They were charter members of the First Baptist Church of Columbia Falls, Beulah being the longest living charter member.

Beulah and Howard raised five children, Loretta, Barbara, Howard Jr., Keith and Mary.

In the early 1980s, Beulah moved to Kalispell. In August 1989, Beulah moved to Tacoma, Wash., and in January 2004, moved to Kent, Wash. She always missed Kalispell and wanted to return many times.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace Brassfield Chapman; her husband, Howard V. Buck in 1979; one daughter, Loretta Lynch in 2000; one son, Howard Buck Jr. in 1976; three sisters, Wilma Buck, Muriel Bingham, Mae Foy; and three brothers, Austin Chapman, John Chapman, and Fred Chapman.

Beulah is survived by one sister, Jane and Dale Powell of Wilsonville, Ore.; two daughters, Barbara and Mick Michalson of Des Moines, Wash., and Mary and Mike Murphy of Las Vegas; one son, Keith Buck of Bellevue, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Beulah will be fondly remembered for her love to shop, travel, raise flowers, sew, and collect dolls, spoons, bells, dishes, music boxes and other things that caught her eye. She loved to work at crafts. In later years, due to failing eyesight and health, many of these joys for her became a thing of the past. Beulah had a sharp mind and was a wealth of information.

At her request, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of her life will be held later this summer at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
