Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies and jail officers coaxed a prisoner down from the ceiling at about 3 a.m. Saturday. The man reportedly removed an access panel and climbed up into the ceiling, where he was discovered in a suspected escape attempt. He had a piece of metal in his hand and allegedly threatened to use it as a weapon. Faced with a half dozen officers and some Tasers, the man agreed to come down and was handcuffed without further trouble.

A woman reported someone threatened to kill her son. Other threats were reported on Midway Drive.

A driver reported a teenager in a ditch on Fairview Crossroads. The teen threw debris out onto the roadway and laughed when vehicles hit the trash. Someone heaved a block of ice at a vehicle on Columbia Falls Stage Road and broke a window.

A citizen's report of a drunk driver turned out to be accurate; he was arrested near the Rocky Mountain Lodge. Same with another driver near Whitefish. Another suspected drunk driver reportedly stopped at the Blue Moon; he was described as a man in a cowboy hat, which didn't exactly make him stand out in the crowd.

An allegedly forged prescription led to a man's arrest. On Kienas Road, the charge was partner assault. Two boys were charged and released to their parents after they reportedly showed up, intoxicated, at an apartment and requested a ride.

Six men tried to fight in Hungry Horse, but didn't wait for a deputy to arrive before they left.

The discovery of new clothing on the Swan River bank aroused concern. A deputy discovered a transient camp in the area. Near Wal-Mart is a truck with a dozen dogs in the cab and a couple and a teenager living in a motor home beside it. They turned out to be fine and they had permission to be there.

Near Columbia Falls, a resident believes he knows who took $1,500 from his address book, but doesn't want to press charges.

A woman who went to visit a prisoner in the jail was served a warrant herself.

Columbia Falls police arrested a man on Martha Road for assault with a weapon. He reportedly entered a house, pointed a gun at a girl's head, and pulled the trigger. The weapon turned out to be just an air-pellet gun, but the terrified girl didn't know that.

A man was arrested on suspicion of a second count of partner assault after a 911 call on Ninth Street West Friday night. Another man there was arrested on Highway Patrol warrants.

Fearless children who rode a shopping cart down Killer Hill lived to tell, and returned the cart to Smith's when an officer put a stop to the thrill ride.
