Dawn G. Zimmerman, 67

Dawn G. Zimmerman, 67, of Ronan passed away Sunday, May 7, 2006, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Dawn was born to Max and Virginia Wood on April 7, 1939, in Elizabeth, Ark. She grew up and attended schools in San Fernando, Calif. Dawn attended UCLA and received her nursing degree. Dawn worked as a registered nurse and as a surgical nurse in open-heart surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., for many years.

She married Donald Zimmerman in 1963 in California.

She and Don moved to Alaska while he was in the military and lived there until 1965. They moved back to California and Dawn worked as a pediatric nurse until the late 1960s.

She and Don then moved to Cortez, Colo., where they ranched until the early 1970s. They sold their ranch in Colorado and moved to Jerome, Idaho, where they continued to ranch until 1976. They moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and operated a restaurant for a few years and eventually moved to Harrison, Idaho, and operated a guest ranch.

They moved to Pleasant Valley in Montana and operated the Lost Trail Ranch for six years. They semi-retired and moved to Charlo, where they continued to ranch.

Dawn loved the outdoors, horseback riding, boating, fishing, four-wheeling, visiting friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled with the league champion team in Ronan for a year.

She was preceded in death by her father, Max Wood, and a brother, Gary Wood.

She is survived by her husband, Don, of Ronan; and three children, Jodi Ellis and Mark of Bothel, Wash., Chad Zimmerman and Libby of Kalispell, and Cara Moore and Brian Seekell of Hall, Idaho; and seven grandchildren, Anthony, Kelsey, Lindsay, Connor, Sidney, Rachel and Donna. Her mother, Virginia Wood, of California; two brothers, Mike Wood of Arkansas and David Wood of California; and a sister, Shirley Minich, of Arkansas also survive her.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Polson, with the Rev. Paul Rowold officiating. Interment will be afterward at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson.
