Beautiful day, bad tempers

Warm weather didn't bring out the best in people, based on reports to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

On Van Zant Road, neighbors were reportedly shooting guns and drinking on Sunday. The neighbors, though, said they were just lighting firecrackers.

It happened at the Foy's Lake boat Ramp Sunday, when someone complained about a man in a no-parking zone who swore in front of a 6-year-old child. The man was contacted and vowed he will never again park wrong or swear in front of a child.

Blankenship, Coram, and Martin City fire departments went to a forest fire at the end of Teakettle Road Sunday afternoon. It was quickly contained, but burned 3 to 5 acres. Forest fires were also reported Monday in the Smith Valley and Somers fire districts.

A cup flung from one van cracked the windshield of another on U.S. 93.

On Judds Way, people were warned about their unsafe shooting. They'll be cited next time, the deputy cautioned.

A transient was ordered to stop loitering on a bike path. A 911 call about a kidnapping turned out to be alcohol-induced; there was no abduction.

Drivers steered around cattle at Stillwater and Reserve drives.

Cash and an electronic game set were stolen on Elk Trail.

Someone discovered a baby left alone in a truck near Kila and cut a seat belt to free him. His parents were found about a half hour later.

At McGregor Lake, a man received dual citations for trespassing and disorderly conduct after he reportedly wouldn't stop bothering people. At Montana Village, a man said he saw a man punch a woman in the face. More punching ensued and a man was arrested on a charge of assault and on a warrant for felony partner assault. The woman went to the hospital.

A man's daughter's boyfriend wasn't welcome on Trumble Creek Road, where he was reportedly unruly and wouldn't leave. A man reported that his ex-wife's boyfriend threatened him.

Gas was siphoned from equipment at a job site on McCaffery Road.

A woman reportedly died in an a traffic accident on Montana 83 near Silly Creek and milemarker 67 Monday afternoon. The accident, in Lake County, reportedly involved a bicyclist.
