POLSON - The Whitefish girls stayed on top while the Whitefish boys are back on top.

The Bulldogs cleaned up Saturday on the final day of competition at the Northwestern A divisional track and field meet by sweeping both team titles.

The WHS girls defended their crown with a 145-point total while the WHS boys took the top spot with 144. The boys, third a year ago, have now won seven division titles in the last 11 years.

The Polson boys finished second, 106, with Ronan/St. Ignatius, 108 1/2, second on the girls side.

Taylor Ferda was a double winner for the Bulldogs on the final day, claiming firsts in the 100 (11.55) and 200 (22.80). On Friday he won the 400 and 100 hurdles.

Whitefish's Chris Hicks, who won five divisional events a year ago, was only a double winner this time. He won the high jump (6-2) on the final day. Friday, he had the best triple jump with a divisonal record distance.

Libby's Kyle Baker was the other double winner for the boys Saturday, winning the javelin (184-6) and shot put (49-5 1/2).

Whitefish's Courtney Ferda and Bigfork's Brooke Andrus also doubled up with individual firsts on the final day and both finished the meet three titles.

Ferda won the 100 (12.87) and 200 (25.9) on Saturday while Andrus posted best times in the 800 (2:16.11) and 3,200 (11:15.98, a new meet record).
