Mariners win streak reaches eight games

POLSON - The Mission Valley Mariners pushed their winning streak in Class A American Legion baseball action to eight games Saturday with a doubleheader victory over the Kootenai Valley Rangers.

The Mariners took the opener 11-1 and pulled out a 5-4 victory in the second game.

Mission Valley is now 11-1 on the season overall, 2-0 in league play.

The Mariners host the Missoula Mavericks for two games today, starting at 1 p.m.

Jordan Lundberg clubbed a solo home run for Kootenai Valley in the first game.

Jake Bosley and Tim Rausch both went 2-for-3 and had 2 RBIs for the Mariners.

Tim Gauthier, Tyler Trudeau, Bosley and Rausch all doubled in the game.

Gauthier also had 2 RBIs.

Bosley went the distance in the first game, improving his pitching record to 3-0. He tossed a 2-hitter.

Mission Valley had five one-run innings to win the second game. Gauthier and Jake Wetzel had two hits each for the Mariners.

J.D. Belstad and Zach Nieuwsma doubled for Kootenai Valley while Bosley doubled for Mission Valley.
