Children's theater programs planned in Whitefish
Act out during summer camps
There are still slots available for local children to attend theater camps in June at Muldown Elementary School and the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
Now in its 27th year, Whitefish Theatre Company continues its commitment to education. Three different camps will offer children a hands-on theater arts experience. Instructors for the camps are Anne Bean and Shanna Katz.
"How Big is Big?"
June 26-30; 10 a.m. to noon; Muldown Elementary School; students entering first or second grades; class size 20; participants will discover theatrical space and movement through a series of exercise theater games that encourage creativity and fun. A short presentation for parents will be held at the end of camp; $75 or $80 after June 1.
"What If …You were a Cat?" June 26-30; 1 to 3 p.m.; Muldown Elementary School; students entering second, third or fourth grades; class size 20; By investigating zany "what if" questions, improvisations, and theater games, children will learn how to creatively explore theatrical space. A short presentation for parents will be held at the end of camp; $75 or $80 after June 1.
"Mount Olympus Medley" June 12-21; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; O'Shaughnessy Center; students entering fourth through eighth grades; class size 30; Campers will select their favorite Greek myths and legends, which will be assembled into a revue fit for the gods. The camp teaches how to work with each other, use bodies to explore theatrical space, and work with a script. There will be a performance on the last day of camp. $200 or $210 after June 1.
