Ethel M. Shanor, 79

Ethel M. Shanor, 79, of Belgrade, passed away at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital on May 19, 2006.

Ethel was born to the late Charles and Lorena Kallner, Aug. 5, 1926, in Malta. As a child she moved with her family from Malta to Conrad and then to Whitefish, where she attended school.

She lived her whole life in Montana, working as a cook on many cattle ranches and at the Whitefish school.

In 1972 she moved to Bozeman to be near her daughter, Robin, where she worked at the Montana State University Student Union Building and worked on her own as a domestic engineer.

Ethel was an avid reader, puzzle solver and worked with her hands doing latch hook, sewing and many other hand crafts.

Ethel is survived by her loving daughter, Robin Sullivan, of Bozeman; one grandson, Keith 'Shawn' Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Chris, Austin and Ellen, all of Shelbyville, Ind. Also surviving are her twin sister, Edna Doyle of Belgrade, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Russell Quest, Ralph Quest and Jordan Kallner; and three sisters, Merle Moore, Jean Osborne, and Shirley Kallner.

A memorial and committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Nazarene Church of Whitefish.
